The New York State Laborers' Union represents over 40,000 members employed in the construction industry and other fields throughout the state.
Our members are organized into more than 36 local unions and 5 district councils. We are a proud affiliate of the Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA).
As part of The New York State Laborers’ Health and Safety Fund’s ongoing health and safety video campaign filming started this month for the Cold Weather Safety Video. The overall goal of these videos is to help Laborers by refreshing the safety knowledge of those already trained in safety and to help Laborers Union apprentices by introducing safety concepts and consciousness. The video segments were filmed at a Tishman Construction project on the West Side Highway. The main topic covered in this video is dealing with frost bite and other cold weather symptoms while providing prevention tips for working on projects in New York in the winter months. In addition to filming on the construction site pieces of the video were filmed at the Mason Tenders Training Facility. As with the other videos in this series, the videos will be shown at Health and Safety bus visits and will also be made available to our contractors and others concerned with workplace safety.
