The New York State Laborers' Union represents over 40,000 members employed in the construction industry and other fields throughout the state.
Our members are organized into more than 24 local unions and 5 district councils. We are a proud affiliate of the Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA).
On October 8, 2013, representatives and members from the Laborers International Union of North America attended the "Camino Americano: March for Immigration Reform" rally in Washington, DC. LiUNA’s General President Terry O’ Sullivan spoke to the audience with over 20,000 people in attendance, including members of Local 78 and Local 79.
During the march, between the Washington Monument and the Capitol, the identifiable color of LiUNA orange flooded the streets. Members were marching, chanting and holding heartbreaking and touching signs such as “No human is illegal”, “Keep families together” and “The time to act is now”.
