The New York State Laborers' Union represents over 40,000 members employed in the construction industry and other fields throughout the state.
Our members are organized into more than 36 local unions and 5 district councils. We are a proud affiliate of the Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA).
On October 26, 2013, Rebuilding Together NYC, worked with over 200 volunteers including members from Local 79 and Nontraditional Employment for Women (NEW) to repair six homes, one community center, and one co-op that were damaged on Coney Island by Hurricane Sandy one year earlier.
Rebuilding Together NYC, is a local nonprofit organization that provides free home repair and modifications for low income homeowners. Since Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Together NYC has repaired homes and community centers serving more than 18,000 people throughout Brooklyn and Queens. This is another example of our members using their on the job skills to help people.
