The New York State Laborers' Union represents over 40,000 members employed in the construction industry and other fields throughout the state.
Our members are organized into more than 24 local unions and 5 district councils. We are a proud affiliate of the Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA).
NYS Laborers Organizing Fund worked with NYS LECET to support Local Union 60 and Local Union 754 as they attended a hearing before the Westchester Board of Legislatures Environmental and Energy Committee in support of the Algonquin Incremental Market Project (AIM). The AIM project expands the pipeline capacity of the existing Algonquin Gas Transmission system. The majority of the attendees were union members and Anthony Ascencao, Business Manager of Local Union 60, spoke on behalf of the laborers discussing the jobs benefit to the community. The hearings resulted in successfully stopping the Board from voting for the resolution calling for a moratorium on the AIM Project.
