The Albany High School Robotics Team 1493, after taking second place in a regional competition, earned the opportunity to compete in Houston, Texas for a national title! Students are never responsible for the costs associated with participating on the team or travel. Eliminating financial barriers make it possible for all to participate, but also makes fundraising a constant concern. Under the LIUNA Feel the Care program, we were honored to contribute to the team’s goal of raising $50,000 in mere weeks to make traveling to Houston possible.
We had a blast learning about their robot and having the opportunity to speak to the students about the importance of STEM in the construction industry – there are advancements all the time and we hope to continue to see great minds pursuing a career in construction!
